Dynamic SQL statements with capture triggers

The capture trigger functionality gives ExtraHop the ability to access the SQL statements out of database requests.

When Dynamic SQL is being used, the SQL statements don’t have the actual values of the variables being used in the statement. They have placeholders for variable that will be passed in later. This will look similar to the statement below:

‘DELETE FROM EMP WHERE MGR = :MGRNUMBER AND JOB = :JOBTITLE’ ‘DELETE FROM EMP WHERE MGR = :M AND JOB = :J’

Unfortunately, since the variable is sent in at a later time, it is difficult for the ExtraHop solution to display the actual value of the variables being used.
